This isn’t for wimps…

Today, the babe and I headed off on a big adventure…back to school.  Fueled up with a delicious (although not very visually pleasing) breakfast.  The faux pancakes are better than they look, but I will eat just about anything if I think it’s good for me.  🙂

1/2 Caff Coffee with Skim Milk, Cinnamon, Vanilla Extract

Lemondrop Melon, Blueberries, Faux Pancakes (1/2c. oats, 1 heaping spoonful of Chobani Greek Yogurt, 1 egg, 1 egg white, 1 drop of vanilla extract, sprinkle of cinnamon ~ Mixed and cooked like a big pancake) with All Natural Strawberry Jelly

After packing the car with toys, diaper bag, playpen, and walker (yes there was still some room for the people to fit in the car), we were off.  I was kind of over the whole day by the time we got to school, and I had to commence with the unpacking of the car.  With lots of multi-tasking, I was able to work until about 11:30.  This was a big feat!  The babe spent just a bit of time in the playpen…

Most of his time was hanging out with me…I mean on me.  Although I love having him close, I feel like my back may just break in two.  Trying to slide furniture around and unpack boxes with 17-18ish lbs. on your chest is a work-out.

Mommyhood is not for wimps!

We celebrated the success of taking the babe to work and actually accomplishing a little bit with some new running shoes for me.  I have been a big fan of Brooks for years now.  I got my first pair at Riverside Runners in Lynchburg, Virginia.  Then, I thought “Oh what is the big deal?  I’ll just go to any old sporting goods store and pick up some new kicks (shoes).”  This was a big mistake and led to wasted money and achy feet.  Now, I go to Running Etc. in Virginia Beach.  They are extremely knowledgeable and just genuinely nice people who recognize the power of a good run to make your life better.  I can’t wait to try these puppies out.

New Kicks!

Running shoes are my main fitness indulgence.  I didn’t even ask the guy how much they cost before I said “Ring ’em up!”  I don’t get too “geared up” with different workout wear or gadgets, so I just go for whatever feels best as far as shoes are concerned.  Not that I wouldn’t mind some gadgets, new DVDs, lululemon clothes, Bosu ball, weights…The list could go on and on!

What are your favorite fitness indulgences?

  1. I love Brooks Shoes too!! They are expensive, but so worth it! I don’t run anymore since I have RA, but do live the support for walking around the block with my dog Spanky or walking on the treadmill.

My goal is to get in better shape, feel better and eat healthier foods. I would love to talk to you sometime about where to begin! Is it really super expensive to eat healthy, organic and raw foods?

Talk to you soon! Love the picture of Holden in his playpen at SEE.

    See you on Monday!

    • Those are great goals! It is a tad bit more expensive to go the organic route, but I’ve found good ways to cut costs such as a great organic salad mix at Sams for a good price, produce from Trader Joes, etc. If I’m really pinched for money, I just try to buy organic when buying off the “dirty dozen” produce list. If you google “dirty dozen produce,” the list should come up. Here’s a link you can check out to if you like… See you tomorrow! 🙂
