Take Me Out to the Ball Game! + More Summertime Fun

Oh, Monday!  I’m ever so thankful not to be bee-bopping off to work this morning.  We had such a busy weekend, and it’s nice to have a leisurely breakfast while the little man snoozes a little bit more.

Friday was a fun, busy day!  H and I met another mommy and her son at the zoo.  It was quite a hot day, and many of the animals were snoozing in the shade as much as possible.  We had fun though!  The boys especially liked the giraffes, the reptile building, and {of course} the splash area at the end of our visit.  Check out the active snake trying to slither up the glass!  Ick!  I absolutely HATE snakes!

After a quick lunch, H took a nice nap while Roscoe and I also rested a bit.

That afternoon we headed off for a Norfolk Tides baseball game.  The Mr. and I have been wanting to do this as neither one of us have attended before.

I’d go to a baseball game anytime with these cuties!

Saturday found us racing off to the beach after a hearty pancake breakfast.  I made banana pancakes with whole wheat flour for the first time.  They actually weren’t too “bananay.”  I completely lost the link for the recipe, or I would share.  😦

Although more people came, we were one of two groups on the beach for a little while that morning.  Storms came through the area about noon.  However, it didn’t rain on our parade as we packed up about 11:30.  I ended up going for a six mile trail run in the rain Saturday afternoon to blow off some steam.  Running really is the best thing for me when I’m angry, sad, upset, etc. I usually have the best run.  What does that say about me?!?!?  I guess that it is really a therapeutic tool for me!  Ha!  Point of the story, I finished my run soaked and dirty/stinky, BUT I felt 110% better.  This parenting thing can really be tough some days!  😉

The Mr. decided to cook some ribs following the advice of my recent copy of Better Home and Gardens which recommended cooking them first in the oven and then finishing on the grill.  They were very tender!  I’m not a ribs fan by any means, but I was impressed by his homemade rub and BBQ sauce.  We finished off our meal with smoothies also by the Mr.  Here’s my guys enjoying theirs…

Sunday was extremely busy with all good things!  Groceries, church, old friends visiting for lunch, pool swimming and dinner eating with more old friends!

I was just telling the Mr. this weekend that I feel like life is just a string of fun right now!  I know it has ups and downs, but I really feel like this summer has been just lovely.  We’ve had so much fun packed into our days!  More importantly, we’ve had so much fun and time spent with friends and family and just enjoying our family of 3 {+Roscoe P.}!

We’ve got more swimming lessons this week and hopefully another beach day too!

What are  your plans this week?
